As Chairman of the Vale of Leven Monitoring Group, I'd like to welcome you to our website.

The group has been established to monitor progress on the implementation of plans which have been agreed for the future of Vale of Leven Hospital.

The "Vision for the Vale" strategy was developed following extensive public consultation to ensure a sustainable future for the Vale of Leven Hospital.

Key points in the Vision include:

  • Introducing a consultant-led model, supported by GPs, to maintain at least 70% of current unscheduled medical care;
  • Sustaining the Vale's minor injuries unit;
  • Continued delivery of rehabilitation services;
  • Retention of elderly acute mental health services;
  • A new purpose-built medical centre;
  • A promotional campaign to encourage more use of the Vale's Community Midwifery Unit.

The Monitoring Group will hold regular meetings to check on progress towards delivering all strategies outlined in the Vision.

As an independent group, we will be free to pass critical comment - where necessary - on the performance of Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Highland Health Boards.

Our membership is drawn from a wide cross-section of the community to provide as broad an interest base as possible.

A key part of our remit is to ensure people are kept informed about progress at the Vale, and this website will provide a useful platform for information.

As it develops, it will contain details of discussions at the meetings - along with all the reports and information presented to its members.

We also envisage the site containing detailed information about the services on offer at the Vale, and the variety of treatments patients can expect.

We hope you find the site helpful.

Chairman
